What can you expect when using my services?
How do I get an estimate / quote?
Text messages or emails are preferred! I will give you my best guesstimate of the services you are requesting without seeing your gown in person. Photos are great references and encouraged! Keep in mind, however, that alteration costs depend greatly on the constructure / detail / volume & style as well as timeframe. After our first consultation and pinning, you will be given a quote price range at the end the fitting. Over-the-phone / email guesstimates are fairly close price ranges based on the information given and what I can see in the photos.
How long will my alteration take?
That also depends on the gown and alterations needed as well as season and timeframe given. As a general rule, you will want to give your seamstress 6 - 8 weeks to work on your particular dress (and more for partial custom needs!). Times will vary depending on the difficulty of your alterations and current work schedule. In any case, it’s advisable to provide plenty of time.
6 to 8 weeks or more? Why so long?
I want to make certain that everything is perfect! In order to ensure client satisfaction, I may need to schedule you for more than one fitting as an alteration progresses to make sure that the overall fit and every detail looks flawless and specific to you! This timeframe allows for that, includes possible shipping times for custom work, as well as takes into consideration my overall work schedule all in an effort to produce quality work for you.
When should I schedule a fitting?
Remember the 6 to 8 weeks is the ideal time frame I need to work with my existing schedule. It’s best to book your fitting 3 to 4 months (or earlier!) from the date you need your dress completed by. Please keep in mind that I am normally booked around 1 and a half months out. Spring and Autumn tends to be 2 - 4 months booked out. This ensures I can work within and cater to both of our schedules and secures your spot before my calendar is full for the time-period needed for your alteration.
What is the process of a Custom Designed Gown?
At the initial consultation we will discuss what you like in terms of design, silhouette, fabrics, and overall esthetic. I will then draw a sketch based on the information gathered and once it is approved, we will move on to measurements and ordering fabric samples and materials. While samples are being shipped, I will be drafting the pattern for the gown and construct a mock/ practice dress. This is to see how it looks on your body, as well as perfecting the pattern or see if we need to make any changes style wise. At this fitting we will make final decisions on design, fabrics and materials. If no other changes are made, I will then begin construction on your one-of-a-kind, custom dress!
How long does it take for a Custom Designed Gown?
8 - 10 months is the ideal timeframe after the design and sketch is approved to completed construction. This is to include possible delayed shipping times, certain restrictions and/or difficulty sourcing materials. Please also consider the season and date of which you would need your dress to be fully completed by.
How much does a Custom Designed Gown cost?
I 100% respect your budget and will do my best to stay within that price range. Based on increased cost of materials, shipping, and general inflation, designs could start around $1500. This of course varies on how complex or simplistic your design is and what fabrics and materials are to be used.
